I had a dog that would do the same thing growing up. Some species like to do that more often then not. I heard Irish Sheppards were really prone to climbing things.
Bob was a little magician when he was younger. Every day I would create higher and higher barriers (up to maybe counter height by the end) to try and keep him in the kitchen and every day I would come home to find him on the couch. I have no idea to this day how he did it.

Wow, cool. Our old dog if he couldn't jump over it, or run through it he just didn't care.
