Me personally, I'm even sure I see that as "wrong". I'm not even sure what the President of a college does day to day.

Meanwhile, the coach can have a huge effect for the school, both on the general income to the school (those tickets are not cheap), and in alumni giving (alumi almost always give more when the school is doing well in football). That matters to any organization. Income keeps the school alive and allows it to grow.

Its supply and demand. There are plenty of people who can be professors. There is a relatively small number of people that can put together a winning football team. Hence the football coach gets paid more. Its the same for why football players get paid a 4 million a year and your high school teacher doesn't. There are 50,000 teachers for every football star. Supply and demand.
